No logo Yet General Regulations for the
Ontario High-School Science Fair for Christian Students

  • There are three project types: Experiment, Study, and Innovation.

  • There are four project categories: Biological Sciences, Phyiscal Sciences, Math/Computer Sciences, and Environmental Sciences.

  • Size of Display: Please note that the size of the Science Project display must be within our specifications. The maximum dimensions are

    • 1.2 m wide,
    • 0.5 m deep and
    • 1.5 m high.

  • An Abstract is a short (no more than 250 words) summary of the student's work and results. A copy of the abstract must be included with the display. It should convey the purpose of the project, a brief description of both the method and results of the project, as well as a highlight of the conclusions.

The Notebook or Work Journal is the daily log in which the student records everything pertaining to the project. It would include thoughts on which project to work on, references to information, ideas for the design of the project, experiments that were done (both those that worked and those that did not work), organization of results, etc. It is the student's working record and as such must not be neatly typed up, but rather handwritten. Each entry should include the date the entry was made.

The Display will provide details of how the final project was carried out, the results, and conclusions. No separate report on the project is required - the display serves that role.

  • Safety Regulations and ethical issues are addressed on the Safety Regulations page.

  • Live animals are NOT permitted with the displays. If a student wishes to study the response of an animal to different stimuli, then the experimental set-up may be displayed, but not the actual animals used.

  • Students should NOT include any awards (e.g. ribbons or trophies) that they may have received at other science fairs.

  • If you are unsure what your project's type or category is, or have any other general questions about the Science Fair and its rules, ask your science teacher or contact us at
